Small Investments Big Returns

These small investments into your home will pay off in big returns

There are small changes you can make which can significantly increase your quality of life. Here are some of the inexpensive products I credit for improving my life on a day to day basis that I never miss an opportunity to recommend.

Small Investment #1: Inside Shoes

Slippers are fine for late in the evening or early in the morning, but if you are spending any amount of time at home cooking or cleaning, chasing around after children, or even just puttering around, you need to be wearing actual shoes.

Choose a pair that slip on easily so that they become a daily habit, but get them yesterday.

Big Returns:

A comfortable pair of inside shoes are going to improve your comfort tenfold and ward off lower back aches and sore feet.  You already know you need to be investing in good footwear when it comes to working on your feet; hold your household tasks to the same standard.  I am on my second pair of Sketchers that I rotate with a pair of Clarks.

Small Investment #2: Earplugs

You can invest some money into getting some really nice ear plugs, or you can just get a package of disposable ones, but you will never regret having earplugs on hand.

Big Returns:

There are probably times when you could have used earplugs and didn’t think about it, even around your house, but if you do any sort of traveling at all earplugs are a must.  Don’t argue.

Individual packaging is not my jam but it is useful for earplugs. I like always having a fresh, clean pair on hand, especially when I am traveling. These are my favourite because I can actually make them small enough to fit into my small ears.

Small Investment #3: Puck Lights

Unless you’ve been actively avoiding the internet this year you’re probably familiar with the puck light sconce hack. Puck lights are a great way of putting up all the sconces your heart desires. Even if you’re not going to partake in this you should place a few puck lights around your home.

Big Returns:

Chances are that a day is going to come when you lose power. The fun of navigating around your home with flashlights and candles won’t last long. Pop a few puck lights strategically around your home in places you will appreciate them.

Hey there!

We’re Jen and Amber.

We are cousins, but also business partners and BFFs. We are constantly on the move, whether that's running a business or running after a toddler, remodeling our homes, recipe testing, scheming or dreaming.

This blog is a personal project for us, allowing us to share with you whatever we are thinking about or working on at the time. You might find a new recipe, you might find a strong opinion on dark academia or you might find out why we bought a restaurant.

Thanks for stopping by!
