Welcome to our blog where we write about our passions, our projects and our advice on everything from home design to running a business.
This blog is a personal project for us, allowing us to share with you whatever we are thinking about or working on at the time.
We post about our real lives – our homes aren’t magazine ready and our lives are imperfect and messy. We make mistakes, we learn and then re-do projects, and we have a lot on our to-do list.

Amber lives in a tiny northern BC community with her husband Patrick, their two year old Felix, and two busy border collies. After four years of owning a busy restaurant, Amber is now happy to spend her time playing outside in the snow and inside decorating her little home surrounded by trees and mountains. Amber obsessively reads English history, has a soft spot for Spanish revival, and has high hopes for living in Denmark in the future. In the meantime, Amber wants to share her love for creating special spaces, believing that art and beauty should be accessible to all, regardless of budget.
As well as writing posts for Courtin Cottage, Amber runs the Instagram, flips furniture, and is always the one staying on top of current trends.

Jen has sixteen years in the culinary industry, from camp cooking, serving, and catering, to owning a restaurant, café and food truck. Retired from the small business hustle, she’s spending her days cooking for the fun of it, writing for Courtin Cottage, and getting outside every day with the love of her life, June.
Many of her articles focus on food recipes and hosting, as well as sharing wisdom from her time in commercial kitchens.
She also just bought a tiny 1950s home in Northern British Columbia, and is excited to share that journey with the readers of Courtin Cottage. So join her, her husband, and their two cats and dog as they turn a 1200 square foot old house into a home.
Jennifer writes articles for Courtin Cottage, as well as managing the Courtin Cottage Pinterest account and doing the behind-the-scenes website building.
